A Kansas congresswoman said Thursday that her remark about fellow Republicans seeking a "great white hope" was not a reference to someone who could challenge President Barack Obama or his political agenda. Rep. Lynn Jenkins said she was instead making a comment about GOP leaders in the House
and was trying to reassure Republicans that the party has bright
leaders there ("cough"). She used the phrase during an Aug. 19 forum in Hiawatha
and someone in the crowd recorded it and gave the video to the Kansas Democratic Party.
Ok, seriously... is this a big deal? No. Is this a bad choice of words? Absolutely. I'm not ready to make any other opinions on this, but this does come off as rather insensitive considering that a remark like this would not have been made if President Obama was white. Am I right? You tell me.
I have a thought: let's take the high road. Let us educate. This should help to eliminate gaffs like this in the near future. Let us take a trip down memory lane. Do you remember what happened to the last "great white hope" that tried to conquer the reigns of ___________ (insert your own point of view here please)??

Rep. Lynn Jenkins is really having a tough period. She admits that she failed to read legislation that she voted on, and she also laughed at an uninsured single mother (while holding her son) as she tried to speak to her about concerns with health care (Peep the video here). Folks in Kansas are not very happy with her right now. In my humble way of being fair and impartial here, I'm going to put her on my prayer list. But I will also say that WE ARE ALL GREAT - we just don't need to exert greatness at the expense of (hurting) others.
So Rush Limbaugh ("arghhhh"), Glenn Beck ("cough") and other factions out there that spew hate and tell us how oversensitive and divisive we are becoming, I will only draw attention to the facts, the reality, and I will further this by sharing a cool trick taught by 'W' ....Ready?
